A Lucky Find
by Nancy Quinn

My sister and her son wandered down the aisle of the concrete room and slowly read each dog's story on the front of their cages. "Well, what do we have here?" Her son Sam discovered a dog in one cage that had been passed between three families and all had decided they didn't want him. He had even run away from another home. And after the ASPCA called to say they had found him, they said they didn't want him back.

My sister and nephew decided to take the little dog for a "test drive" and walked outside with him. As they slowly walked back to the building, the dog panicked at the sight of the building looming in front of him and flattened himself like a little brown and black pancake onto the sidewalk. He was only about 35 pounds, but a flat dog on a sidewalk is not easy to maneuver at any size. After a brief balancing act, they were able to carry him back into the building and reluctantly left him with the attendant. My sister had to work the next day, so she asked her husband to visit the dog. She came home that evening to find the dog waiting for her on the couch, wagging his tail with a grin on his furry face!

Have you ever felt unwanted or unloved in your life? You can know that you will ALWAYS be very much loved by God. Our relationships here on earth are imperfect ones and people can hurt us, whether knowingly or unknowingly. But the Lord loves you with an eternal and everlasting love and He wants to adopt you into the family of God. All you have to do is ask Jesus into your heart and accept Him as your Savior. God will NEVER turn you away!

My sister decided to keep the dog's name that he came with - Lucky. They jokingly said it was his lucky day. Was he lucky? No, I consider him as blessed. The Lord gave him a wonderful home and he's been spoiled there ever since with tummy rubs, car rides and dog treats!

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Hebrews 13:5b God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

Romans 8:38 39 "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

May God bless these words as I strive to encourage others in their walk with Christ. Please contact me if you would like to request a specific lesson that Lucy Mouse can teach your children or if you would like a coloring page to be sent to match the story!
