DAY TO DAY poem

Provencher Day to Day Paper on lap a tired gray-haired gentleman folds his specs, canopy handy when 32 C visits your trailer porch, flowerpots sprinkle the small lot, Impatiens and Gladiolas colouring the view, Muffins asleep, Ida staring from the sofa - Alzheimer's taking root, from the next trailer children singing new verses of "Old MacDonald's Farm," a knowing smile warming his crinkled face, canoeing memories, long walks with his wife, a good life with family grown older and his old lawn sign still reminding 'WELCOME TO ALL' from Ida, John and Muffins.
