Journeying
by Anne Linington

Looking at the magnitude of the present problem
Threatens to overwhelm me.
But as I choose to raise my eyes and look toward the horizon
I see beyond the shadows to a brighter sun-filled sky.
Fixing my mind on the journey ahead
I know that I will not remain in this stone-strewn terrain.
Even through the approaching shadows I see new green growth
Areas of fertility and fruitfulness, possibilities for productivity.
At the tree-line I glimpse new prospects for community and worship.
And in the far distance the bluest of skies beckons me on
To continue the challenge of pilgrimage,
Until I reach my ultimate destination.

A meditation based on a photograph of Dartmoor's granite tors, Devon, U.K.

I live in the UK, and attend an evangelical Church of England, where I am training as a Reader, (lay preacher). I support the work of a Christian Healing Centre, and enjoy writing, particularly poetry.
