A Diamond in the Rough
by Diana Isham

My friend, You are a good one,
A diamond in the rough!
Who thinks it's fine to swear a bit
Round those whose lives are tough.

But deep inside, my fellow,
I think you really know
That swearing around anyone
Is not the way to grow.

I know myself, how hard it is
To admit when I am wrong
But I know the Lord requires it
If I want to join His throng.

To kick a habit's hard my friend,
I know temptation well.
But when I really stop and think...
Do I want my soul, to sell?

Do I want to face my precious Lord
Knowing what I should have done
Due to light and knowledge given me
From the Father and the Son?

There are siblings all around us
Searching for that Heavenly light
Yet they won't know where to find it
If we do not keep it bright.

Will you join me now in prayer my friend
May we face the foe as one
As we don the shield of faith in God
Who redeems us through His Son

The road is straight, our path is clear
We know what we must do
Our Lord has paved the better way
Now we must see it through.

Dear Friend,

If you are desirous of reprinting this poem I would like to make a special request of you...

I would be tremendously appreciative if you
would you please take the time to let me know where and what posting or publication you will be posting or publishing it in.

May God bless you with a wonderful day!

I am a lover of good literature and music and am a writer of such (or at least I try to be).

Among other things, I love to read and write poetry.

I love people, and hope through my writings and otherwise, to be an influence for good in the lives of those whom I meet and come in contact with.
