Seek and You Will Find
by Charla Diehl

"What am I looking for," I ask
in the stillness of this hour.
The diamond studded sky above
is witness to God's power.

I gaze into the night and feel
a void, a hollowness within.
I rarely talk to God, but
think it's time that I begin.

I hear He can do wondrous things
for people in need of healing,
My heart aches inside my chest--
I want to stop this feeling.

I'm tired of the emptiness.
Do you know of what I'm speaking?
A friend told me yesterday
God healed her in her seeking.

"Sometimes," she spoke quietly,
"He breaks us, then we're whole."
And she resolved to tell me
how God helped her save her soul.

"I had to make decisions--
yes, I had to change my ways."
A reverence enveloped her
as she spoke of how she prays.

"The more I talk with Father God,
the more I'm certain of His love."
"Why don't you give Him a try,"
she said, giving a friendly shove.

Recalling this conversation,
I knelt, surrendering my fears.
Though my words were clumsy,
I kept talking through my tears.

God heard my desperate prayer
as I came knocking on His door;
In seeking Him, He made me new--
I'm not broken anymore.

Matthew 7:7 (NIV) Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Isaiah 41:10 (NLT) Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

I have loved writing since I was a child. My hope is that my story poems will speak to readers in a life-changing way.
