Is There One True Version Of The Bible?
by Victoria Dame

Let me start off stating that I feel that there is not just one version of the Bible that is true. Now there are some that are not as complete as they should be and some that have been added to. And to these I have to say are not the true version. I'm not saying that everything in them is wrong but that my belief and faith tells me that I have to shun them because it is against God's law to add to or to take from his word.

I myself have many different versions that I use to study with, my favorite being the NKJV, but I also like the Thomson Chain Study Bible. The computer has so many different versions I have found that it can get confusing. But you know there is no way to say one Bible is the true version because look at the KJV, when it is translated into another language it is not the same is it? They have to change the way it is written if just by the placing of a verb or a noun. So there is no way it could be a true KJV even.

Now I do feel that one version should be used in church, be it the KJV or whatever version the church agrees on and the reason I say this is because when a pastor reads to us if we are truly listening to him we should be reading from the same text. To be able to follow along with his reading and not just to take his word that he is telling us the truth. This way there is no confusion. Confusion is the reason for many a disagreement in churches.

I also believe that when studying together you should agree on one version, for the same reason as stated above. There is nothing so confusing to me to be in a study group and someone to read from a different version than me. I have a hard time keeping up and find myself losing interest in what is being read.

No, there is no one true version of the Bible but there is one true version of the Word. John said it better than me when he wrote (John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. KJV). Timothy also told us to study to show our self approved this is found in 2Timothy 2:15. So, I encourage each and every one of you to pick a version and read what God has in store for you.
