The Edge Of Life
by David Pekrul

Standing at the edge of life,
I gaze into the pit,
And see the demons coming forth,
With fury that won't quit.

I hear their cursing and their screams,
I see their constant rage,
They're reaching out to capture me,
And lock me in their cage.

I try to fight but cannot move,
I try to take a stand,
Resisting in my weakened state,
To do what they command.

But pressures from the outside world,
Have robbed me of my will,
As demons take control of me,
And drag my soul downhill.

I look inside to find some strength,
Then look to God above,
And from the sky I see His love,
Descending like a dove.

No longer do I live in fear,
As demons rant and rage,
For though they try to claim my soul,
I'm on a different page.
