Weight Loss Through Conscious Living
by Cathy Morenzie

Scripture to reflect on: Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:2)

Are you actively making things in life happen, or is life happening to you?

If we are truly honest about admitting it to ourselves, much of our lives happen to us.

We are often not in control of the food choices we make. We grab something fast because we are in a rush, we eat because we have a craving for something, or someone offers us something and we just can't say no. These unconscious choices negatively impact our weight loss efforts.

Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah were faced with this same dilemma; in fact, it was much worse because they were under duress.

But Daniel and his friends made a conscious choice and they resolved that they would not eat the King's food. They had the Lord on their side and if we allow Him, so do we. Like Daniel, we must resolve to obey God and not the pressures of this world.

From Daniel, we also learn that we must have a plan in place to resist temptation before it arises.

We should be like Daniel in the bible, who was determined to stay committed to his principles and choices.

To help you achieve success in your weight release program and stay conscious of your choices, try the following:

* In everything give thanks.
* Eat only when you are hungry.
* Before you eat, ask yourself if you are truly hungry or thirsty.
* Ask yourself what you really want and need.
* Pray that the Lord will guide you in your food choices.
