Breached Walls
by Randall Wadley

From that day on, half of my men did the work while the other half held spears, shields, bows, and armor. (A) The officers supported all the people of Judah, 17 who were rebuilding the wall. The laborers who carried the loads worked with one hand and held a weapon with the other. Nehemiah 4:16-17(NIV)

My experience as a warrior in the army of the lord has been riddled from time to time with breaches in my wall of protection. The enemy encamps around our walls, he lays siege works, constantly battering them looking for the weakest point. These breaches occur for many different reasons. At times through disobedience and sin, pride will also dismantle the wall. What the enemy uses to hinder us, the Lord uses to make us better soldiers.

The laborers who carried the loads worked with one hand and held a weapon with the other.( Ne 4:17)(NIV)

They were burdened down. But they still carried a weapon! I dont know what your burdens are, it may be a child on drugs, a spouse addicted to pornography, a loved one whos lost their way. No matter what load youre carrying, never lay down your weapon, not even for a second! My weapon of choice is the Word of God, the sword of the Spirit!
When you feel over whelmed from the cares of this world, pick up your sword and wield the promises it contains. God can't Lie!

God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? (Numbers
23:19)(NIV)

The wall I speak of today is a spiritual wall; it cant be built in a day or tore down in a day! The wall is built through a relationship with the King of Kings. Just as in the book of Job.

8 Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil."
9 "Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied. 10 "Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. (Job 1:8-9)(NIV)

That hedge was Gods wall of protection around Job and his entire house! That hedge is the Holy Spirit. I challenge you today to stand strong when your house is under attack! When youre at the end of your rope, had all you can take, reach for your sword (the word) and drink it in until it overflows and builds a wall around your entire house!

Our King, we thank you for pouring your Spirit
of protection around our families, when under siege
from the attacks of the enemy give us strength to
wield the sword of your word.
In Jesus, name. Amen.
