A Man Of Great Simplicity
by David Pekrul He wanted nothing from this life Than simple love and peace, But everyone was waging war, As violence did increase. A simple man with simple views, A simple way of life, He wished that all could live in peace, But all he saw was strife. A man of great simplicity, A man of humble birth, The angels came to worship him, They knew what he was worth. A man that understood our pain, That understood our need, They hung this man upon a cross, And watched him die and bleed. A man who was the Son of God, Our Father and a friend, Who took our sins upon himself, To rescue and defend. A man of great simplicity, A man of humble birth, The angels came to worship him, They knew what he was worth. He understood what we were like, And why we lived in sin, And all he asked was simple faith, So he could live within. So he could be our guiding light, A haven in the storm, So he could take our sinful ways, And of our lives, reform. A man of great simplicity, A man of humble birth, The angels came to worship him, They knew what he was worth. And now he sits on Heaven's throne, And listens as we pray, And welcomes us with open arms, Then watches as we stray. He tried to teach us right from wrong, And show us how to live, And even though we go astray, He said he would forgive. A man of great simplicity, A man of humble birth, The angels came to worship him, They knew what he was worth. There's never been a man like him, There hasn't been one since, The Counselor, the Mighty God, Of peace, he was the Prince.
