The Billboard
by David Pekrul Plastered on a billboard, Was the message "Jesus Saves", It sat beside a country road, That was, as yet, unpaved. I'd travelled down that road before, And never gave it heed, I thought I'd get to Heaven, On the basis of my deeds. It was late at night and raining hard, When I came around the curve, A car was stalled in front of me, And so I tried to swerve. I was heading for that billboard, There was nothing I could do, I crashed my car right into it, It slowed me, that I knew. I climbed out of the crumpled car, And was feeling rather stiff, Then realized God had rescued me, As I stood beside the cliff. The billboard saved my life that day, But Jesus saved my soul, I offered up my life to Him, And He has made me whole. www.myhiddenvoice.com The poetry of David Ronald Bruce Pekrul If this article is used in any publication, please send a copy of the publication to David Pekrul at 170 Carr Cres.
