TREES GATHER poem
by Richard L. Provencher

Trees Gather

in clinging strands of green aside
steep sides of Rocky Mountain country
Maligne Lake a destination
where travelers peer from the
safety of their vehicles
knowing bears are on the prowl:
'Do Not Leave Cars' read the signs.
And yet
somewhere beyond the next curve
a sparkly river guards the way
trees golden in the sun
where a picnic table awaits.
