Desert Place
by Leona Mingo

And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about and lodge, and get vituals: for we are here in a desert place. Luke 9:12 Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven he blessed them and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude. And they did eat and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets. Luke 9:16,17 KJV

The disciples and the people found themselves in a desert place but that desert place, which of itself could yield no form of sustenance or satisfaction, became a place of blessing and providence in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. Not only did the people have the sustaining nourishment needed to keep them alive; they were all filled and there was even some left over.
If one, for some peculiar reason refused that which was provided compassionately by the Lord, then that person would sit hungry in this desert place. That would be his choice and the Lord would not infringe upon his personal decision but what a sad figure this person would be as the desert dust swirled around him in this dry, barren place which the Lord desired to transform, for him, into a land of plenty.

I desire to write devotionals which glorify God.
