Joys of a Mailbox
by Verna Mull Our mailbox is a bearer of joy, There are letters from loved one's there! No matter how many letters it contains, There are never any letters to spare! There are the special times of birthdays, When it is full of the best of wishes, Sometimes, news- "my order's been sent! Can't wait to receive my new dishes! There is another very special time, For a month, we receive "special" letters. Each day the box is bursting at the seams, It seems life couldn't be any better! Each letter is contained in a special card, Wishing us joy at that Christmas Season; Many expressing the meaning of the day, Yes, Jesus is that Special Reason! The love that we feel for our friends Stirs deeply within our soul Talking to each of them, one by one, Has become one of our life goals! We remember all of those wonderful times When we were not so far apart, The times when we talked face to face, And shared all that was in our heart! What would we do without our mailbox? How would we ever keep in touch? It brings news of those, dear to our heart, The ones that we love so much! An elderly Christian who has learned to depend upon the Lord.
