Lord of the Lions
by Read Daniel 6:16-23 The story of Daniel in the lions' den is familiar to Christians everywhere. It is a story of faith, courage, love, and power. It has all the elements of a truly great story. Is it just a story? No. It is a record of the demonstration of God's lordship over the lions' den and of his power over the evil schemes of men. The men who conspired to get Daniel thrown in the lions' den did not fear God. They did not know that the God who created the universe also created the lions. They did not know that this God to whom Daniel prayed is all-powerful and controls the entire universe, even the lions. We know, but do we act as if we know? When we face difficulties in our lives, do we panic, or do we pray to God, do what we know we should do, and then leave the results in God's hands? Give your troubles to the Lord of the lions today and rest in the peace only he can give. Father, we know you control everything in the universe. Help us to remember that when life gets hard.
