TO MELANIE poem
by Richard L. Provencher

To Melanie

A little finger reaches out
its life-force
gentle to the touch
try me on for size,
I'm little & like
being loved.

You are the parents I long for
I am the child of
your dreams.

And in the hills beyond, dark
clouds
quietly recess into the
far corners
of the world

a new call crosses with the wind
a bugle sounds
the arrival
of a kind smile upon the face of
many
summers to come.
