This Land
by LaNaye Perkins

I've been here since the dawn of time
From shore to shore my beauty shines
I've seen Cro-Magnon and T-Rex
I'm filled with wonders to respect

Explorers came upon my shores
They claimed my lands as being theirs
My people who belonged right here
Fled in terror hearts filled with fear

More explorers did come to me
Fought each other but didn't see
Their blood did soak my hallowed ground
Dead bodies lay without a sound

They proclaimed a country was born
As though they were why I was formed
Forgetting I had always been
By God's own word did I begin

Centuries passed cities built high
Smoke belching stacks now block my sky
Refuse mounded upon my land
Little respect does come from man

Yet there are some who still will try
To clean my soil and my sky
Cleaning rivers so life returns
Replacing forests they have burned

Yes I am known around the world
From full grown men to little girls
I am a mighty land they say
I am called the U.S.A.

From the beginning the Lord let me know I was to share whatever He inspired me to write. Now, over a decade later, I'm still sharing what He's given.
