O' Beautiful (Now)
by Clarence (Sonny) White

O' beautiful

Her unmatched beauty cries for love
She experienced in the past
Continual and freely given
The kind of love that lasts

To those she loved, she yielded all
And did without complaint
With no discrimination
Be they sinner or a Saint

They crossed oceans to be with her
Swam rivers, risked their lives
Taking all she had to offer
Leaving her to be revived

But, takers were always takers
Never willing to give
Stripping her of material things
Not caring if she lived

Great, due to respect and love of God
And thus being her fame
Now plagued by those who forbid
The mention of his name

They sought to destroy the values
That made her strong and great
Wanting everything right now
Unwilling to work and wait

Ravaged and severely beaten down
She teeters on the brink
While takers cry for more and more
America continues to sink

Accountability gone long ago
They want rules to reflect their say
Having never worked or contributed
They would ruin the U.S.A..

For those who have made her great
And over her land have trod
Pray with me, again we'll see
