OUR THOUGHT LIVES
by Verna Mull

I dreamed that I saw all my thoughts,
Flashing boldly, across the sky.
Oh, there were some good, caring thoughts;
But others, brought tears to my eye.

I thought about many old caves,
Stalactites and stalagmites there.
They were all formed by tiny drops,
Leaving deposits everywhere.

Oh, yes, it had been many years,
Before these drops turned into stone;
But I could plainly see my heart
Would be the same, if left alone.

Holding feelings of resentment,
Letting hurt feelings have their way,
Dwelling on the faults of others,
Would build hardness day by day!

Lord, be my ever present Shield.
Guide me to cast bad thoughts away.
May I fill my heart to the brim,
With your precious Word, every day!

I can't follow your example
With a heart filled with piles of stone.
Don't let me dwell on sinful things,
Fill me with thoughts of You, alone.

Seal my heart with Your love and grace.
Each day, my sinful heart, renew!
Then, when my life must be revealed,
It will show my deep love for you!
