PEACE, BE STILL
by vincent lyons

"Let us cross to the other side;"
Christ speaks the word and it will be;
His will can never be defied
By rushing wind or raging sea.

In tranquil peace He sleeps below,
Oblivious to fear and dread;
The seas may swell, the gale may blow--
Can these prevent what Christ has said?

"Master, we perish," they cry out,
As fear and panic grips their souls;
"Lord, save us," His disciples shout--
"Where is your faith," the Master scolds.

The wind and sea obey His word;
At His command their ragings cease;
They recognise Who is their Lord--
He speaks to them--they rest in peace.

Don't be tossed in a sea of doubt;
All Christ has said will be fulfilled;
Though storms be raging all about,
Put your faith in Him--"Peace, be still."

I am a Christian who belongs to a home church in Sydney, Australia. I am Irish by birth and desire to further the gospel of Christ by my life and my poetry.
