CAPE BRETON SERENADE poem
by Richard L. Provencher Cape Breton Serenade East of New Glasgow alongside asphalt highway trees are green banners where frame houses sprinkle cliff-edges sky and trees mingle more like shipyard mates and clouds peek over Antigonish hills. The Causeway pokes steel links to the mainland. Beneath the bridge white-caps show their fist of current arousing ocean's breath. Roads climb camel-humped hills surrounding Margaree Valley. At Chetticamp scooped earth creates a pebbled beach and tourist cottages await another rush of customers. On the way up French Mountain rocks blink like silver dollars shiny from sun's pointing stare and Baie St. Lawrence power lines are pencil-stick mannequins. Keltic Lodge spotty with white Birch has its own military parade and cars now silent as weary passengers stretch camera-arms eager for just one more view. Sundown's pink provides that feast of pleasure. Richard L. Provencher 2009 Richard enjoys writing poems; many of which have been published in Print and Online. He and his wife, Esther are also co-authors of stories and a print novel. They are "born again" Christians and very busy in their church, Abundant Life Victory International, in Bible Hill, Nova Scotia. Article Source: http://www.faithwriters.com |
