Frightened Freshman
by Marijo Phelps

Silent, wide-eyed and frightened
Afraid to look left
Afraid to look right
Afraid they are laughing
At me.

Hide under hair!
Hair in my eyes
Protecting me
The wind blows it aside
And I'm bare for the world to see

Scared and afraid, with eyes watching
EVERYWHERE!
Hide, Hide, HIDE!!!
Where? WHERE can I hide???
Away- with no one to laugh
Stare, admire or put me on a pedastal.

AWAY, Away, away,
Please, away?
Please help me?
So lost
IT so big
And I so small.
