As we read of Jesus choosing His twelve disciples, it began with an open invitation to Simon Peter and his Brother Andrew. ( Mark 1:17) Jesus asked them to come and follow Him! Later He extended another personal request to come together in a quiet place for rest,
( Mark 6:31) In an encounter, a man who was seeking, questioned Jesus. To Him, he asked what he needed to inherit eternal life. (Mark 10:17-21) It also ends with a personal call from The Lord, to come and follow Him.
Follow me now to a place of commitment.( Luke 9:23 HCS) I believe this is "the line drawn in the sand." Jesus spoke"If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me." To the thirsty he gave this message: "If anyone is thirsty, he should come to Me and drink." (John 7:37-38 HCS) As we have walked through these words of scripture, from "The Word"(John 1:1 HCS), we have received a personal invitation to come. Will we accept?
When our second grandson Matthew, "Granny's Little Man,"was two years old, he always wanted others to stay with him. As his parents would be getting ready to take him somewhere, he had a regular reaction. He would turn towards others , and with twinkling eyes, he'd excitedly say "Comin'?" That is Jesus question, "Comin?" Let's not disappoint Him!
