Knowledge is Powerbut only if it be of the truth !

by Mark Heatherly
5/13/2009 / Christian Living

I have a theory regarding "knowledge", being defined as "general awareness or possession of information, facts, ideas, truths, or principles", that separates people into two basic groups. This is why we end up with two political parties or two opposing ideologies & why the two are at odds with one another. (This is the short & overly simplistic version.) Notice the word "truth" in the definition of knowledge.

What exactly is truth ? This is a very deep & important question . In fact, there does exist an absolute truth but oddly enough it is hidden from those who rely solely upon their own means (the powers of the mind of man) for the acquisition of the truth. In other words, if you deny God, the embodiment of truth, you will never know the truth. Your knowledge therefore will be baseless & faulty. If the knowledge one has is false he is full of error (or darkness as the bible says) & he will stumble over things he cannot see or perceive. This explains the so-called liberal mind. This is a person who does have knowledge or sight & can walk but as he does he stumbles because his lack of clarity causes him to miss or not see the obstacles in his path. He can see well enough to walk but not well enough to avoid the obstacles.

God alone posseses & keeps truth & is all knowing, & we are required to seek Him that He might reveal the truth in knowledge. The amount of clarity & knowledge we receive from Him is in direct proportion to our seeking & loving Him. This then, gives us a more clear awareness so that we can make better assessments & decisions. This enables us to formulate righteous & proper ideologies. Jesus said "those who are of the truth hear my voice". This means that to have correct knowledge & to know & posses the truth a person must recognize & accept God as being the truth & the holder & keeper of the truth. To deny God is to be denied access to the truth in knowledge.

Believe it or not, there exists only two sides in this world. One is of the truth & one is of the lie. In order for anyone to accept the lie, it is & it has to be cloaked in deception. By all appearances it seems to be a viable alternative to the truth. It appears even to be the truth & has a form of the truth yet not being the total & absolute truth, it is never the less a lie. If for example you are given a new machine to operate but are only given partial truth & faulty or deceptive information regarding how to operate it you will not be able to make it operate or function properly, if even at all. This is why there exists two opposing sides in most every aspect of our dealings in life, & politics is certainly no exception.

People (even Christians) devise vain, faulty & improper ideologies, ways & practices because they do not possess the clear vision with which to see & recognize what is true & right. The mind of a man without God is like muddy water. We cannot see through mud, but if the dirt which contaminates the water is removed we can see clearly.

We know unbelievers are opposed to anything "religious" but even they cannot deny my point when they read the bible & see that when Jesus (the truth) spoke & did things it is noted that immediately afterwards "the people were DEVIDED" . This is a simple but profound fact & truth that proves my point. There is a truth (Jesus) & when it is spoken or otherwise expressed in this world, all who experience it must respond in one way or the other according to their relationship with the truth! Those who are of the truth hear His voice & accept it, those who do not are in opposition & remain in darkness & stumble over things they cannot see. This helps explain all the opposites & oppositions that exist in the world, if you can accept it.

I am aware that I will be attacked by those in opposition to the truth as one who is attacking them. Actually I am not attacking anyone but simply declaring the truth. Those who are not of the truth always take the revealing of truth as a direct attack upon them. All I can say is that the truth is what it is. The more you oppose it the more it works against you. There is a sense in which the truth is stationary or static in movement so that it is the opposor who causes himself injury & harm according to the degree of his opposition to it. It is like opposing a sharp object, the greater the opposition or pressure against it the further it will pierce & injure you.Not unlike Saul's kicking aginst the goads.

I make my writings available to all, but I would very much like to hear from those who have questions or comments or are built up & enriched & also from those who wish to use my writings for reprint.
