She sleeps - hands under
one cheek in prayer-like fashion.
Gone are the French braids
lovingly styled by her mother.

I look upon her angelic face
aware that one day soon,
she'll be more interested in friends
than visits from Nana and Papa.

So, I've reserved a shelf in my heart
to place all memories
shared with my Brooklynn.
