Acts 13:48
And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
1. "And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord"
a. There could be no better news for Gentiles who really desired to seek God.
2. "and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed."
a. ordained [5021 * tattoo] [Zodhiates: To place, set, appoint, arrange, order. In the NT, used figuratively, meaning to set in a certain order, appoint] [Acts of the Apostles, Tourville: "The command has gone forth to believe on Jesus as Savior. The Jews refused to believe but the Gentiles rejoice and glorify the word of the Lord by following in the rank with the other soldiers of the Cross. Thus they "arrange" themselves, order themselves, line up with eyes right in accord with the preaching of the gospel."] [DC: Almighty God arranged, ordained the circumstances, and the people responded by believing.]
b. believed [4100 * pisteuo] [Zodhiates: To believe, have faith in, trust.
