~When God Walks In~

by Shannon Heiden
9/10/2009 / Devotionals

"Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep?"(Job 38:16 NIV)

Beautiful one, think of all places your feet have taken you. As you look back, maybe you cringe a bit. From where you stand now, you can see just how far you've come. Now, ponder a moment, the steps ahead.... We cannot change what was, all we can do is take it line upon line, step after step and today, begin the process of making the necessary changes and adjustments in our walk. So as to ensure, that where we're going will be much better than where we've been.

Life. It is a strange four letter word. Life can mean many things to many people but overall, we each have one. Depending on circumstances, wisdom and our values and beliefs, will ultimately determine the quality of life that we each will experience.

When you skim through the pages of time, all of mans history has a common thread. There is a connection point that ties the human soul, one to another. I may not have known the Apostle Paul, nor Moses or Jacob, but I can connect to them through their pain and weakness.

Pain has a funny way of making friends. We each will encounter personal triumph, but really, it is mans weakness that brings us all close together. Pain and weakness if not dealt with properly, can alter the course of your life, stealing your hope, paralyzing your dreams and rendering you ineffective and unproductive.

Sometimes I read articles from the many talented and beautiful women I work side by side with. I enjoy so much taking a break, and just reading the fun things like cooking, and beauty.... Then I come back to my life and as I write, I realize that it is always to the broken, the bruised and bleeding.

The truth is, I can only write, what I know. And, fortunately, I know what it is to be beaten and wounded beyond recognition.... I have made more messes in my life than I'd like to admit, but God walked in each time, and has turned my messes into beautiful messages.

Did you catch what I said earlier? I said "fortunately" I have been wounded..

I never in a million years would ever think that I would say that I am grateful for my pain. But, a life that has never experienced adversity, personal failure or has never known what it is to be laid low, in my opinion, is no life at all.

When you think about the many people in the bible, sometimes you think that the miracles they experienced we're just for them and their time. Not true. Their lives were no different from ours.

Think of the woman who lost her son to death, and in walked Jesus and with one touch he restored him to life. Or what about the Samaritan woman who had four disastrous marriages and was living with her boyfriend.

Jesus who went out of his way to find her, walked up to her at the well and told her everything she needed to hear. What about blind Bartimaeus who was sitting blind and begging on the road. In walked God and restored his sight, and the beggar became a believer.

Thomas whose faith was seared was sitting in a room, with his head in his hands wondering how everything could have gone so terribly wrong, then, in walked Jesus, and renewed what was stolen...

There are numerous people that lived their lives and had made huge messes everywhere they went. There are also many who have not had too many mishaps, nevertheless, when God walks in, things change. People are changed, their circumstances might not go away or get better right away but when God walks in and interrupts you along the way, you are not the same person as you were before He came.

Still the skeptic? Many have had the same problem. Take Paul for instance who had so much knowledge of the things of God, that he had to be knocked off his high horse and blinded so that he could see with the eyes of his heart. Or, Peter, who looked mostly at the natural, trying to spare God of actually doing what he was destined to do. How about Moses who had the calling to be a great deliverer, but acted out of emotion, and spent forty years in a desert because of it.

Beautiful One, we will walk to many places. Some will be good, some bad and some, well lets just say, they were a nice detour. But, ultimately the places you've been and where you have yet to go are all ordered by the Lord.

Dont you know;"that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord?" (Proverbs 20:24 NIV)

Thats right. It's all part of Gods plan. He will use that season in hell, because he's got something up ahead thats going to justify all your pain. And when you get there, you will be able to say "thank God, I see, if I had not gone through that, I wouldn't be able to have this, now."

Weakness is not our enemy. Our enemy is our own natural sight. We look at whats happened, and at whats going on now, and we grow discouraged. We are to walk by faith, not by sight. We look to what will be, not what we can see. For what we can see is temporary. This too shall pass. If all we had to hold out for was what we could see, than I don't know about you but I'm in trouble!

Satan stole Adams vision of the Lord. He took his vision of GOD, and directed it to what he could see and touch.

Jesus came to restore sight to blinded eyes! To give us our vision of GOD! When you can see God in the midst of your trial, when God is paramount and your problem isn't, than you know that you can hold on, because God is going to walk in and turn tables on your behalf, and he's going to rock your world!!!

When God walks in, He even prepares a table in the presence of your enemies, so that all those who laughed at you, will now be the ones who envy you. And you surely will be able to say, no weapon thats formed against you shall ever prosper, all because:
..... God walked in.

Beautiful One, just believe!
