What is the 'true' meaning of Christmas?
On October 6, 2009 Christmas Unwrapped viewers can find the answer. This highly informative video examines the forgotten meanings and traditions. Today it is not widely acceptable to say Merry Christmas; we are expected to say Seasons Greetings. This film helps put Christ back in 'Christ'mas. Through Scriptures, interviews, old photos, and history it explains how to bring back the 'true' celebration of Christmas.
Interviews with several people of an older generation, illustrate how today most have lost the meaning of Christmas. It is not about the overindulgence of food, expensive gifts, and for many overwhelming stress. It is about God loving us so much that He sent Jesus. Evidence that Christ is left out of Christmas is in the statement, "more children today believe in Father Christmas (Santa) than do in Jesus." Actress Karolyn Grimes, Zuzu from "It's a Wonderful Life", shares her Christmas memories and traditions.
In a touching scene a Santa asks a mother to teach the children the true meaning of Christmas. It highlights the meanings behind cherished Christmas symbols like the tree, star, holly, & gifts.
The video also urges viewers to see the importance of God's gifts, not material gifts. It includes a list of gifts that God has given us and Scriptures to examine. This would make a great Bible study during the Christmas season.
In using the song "12 Days of Christmas", the video gives creative suggestions on activities, crafts, and family traditions.
Christmas Unwrapped reminds us that Christmas should be a time of family, forgiveness, love and faith. This is a great video to watch with the entire family. Try some of the suggested activities and crafts in the 12 Days of Christmas list. But most of all reflect this Christmas on the gifts that God has given us. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
