How safe are irradiated foods really? Is progressive neurological disease resulting from irradiated food really species specific to cats? What are we doing to verify that irradiated foods do not affect human beings in this manner as well?
In any case, you might want to make sure you are not feeding irradiated food to your cat.
I am concerned that by causing bacterial and/or viral mutations, irradiation could create more virulent forms of these organisms than already exist. (I doubt very much that irradiation kills 100% of all viruses and bacteria)
Irradiation of food for human consumption has been approved by the FDA. The only thing preventing its widespread use for humans is consumer opposition. Be an informed consumer.
