To ponder, what is life?
Why am I here today?
What substantial reason can I fathom from this fray?
To ponder, who am I?
What makes me tick inside?
What causes me to laugh, or cry, or run away and hide?
To ponder, what's the point?
Why bother getting up?
Why go through all of this again, why drink life's bitter cup?
Consider, there's a God,
who seems to want me here
So when this world gets tough for me, perhaps I shouldn't fear?
Consider, there's a Son,
who died that I might live
For if the choice had been my own, would I so freely give?
Consider, there's a way,
to make my short life count
So every day has purpose, and determination mounts.
I want my life to matter,
for meaning to take hold,
so when I reach my final days, a story can be told;
Of a man who built his life,
upon a base so firm,
no matter what they threw at him he never ran or turned.
He faced his days with steadiness,
and could not be enticed;
because he built his life upon the rock of Jesus Christ.
