Endurance for its own sake is meaningless. However, when we endure because of the encouragement of scripture, we have a hope that endures to all eternity, "and now these three remain: faith, hope, and love" (1 Corinthians 13:13). We have a hope that does not disappoint, "because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us." (Romans 5:5).
"so that through endurance and through encouragement of the scriptures we may have hope." (Romans 15:4) Endurance is evidence of God's activity in our response to the encouragement of scripture. Endurance is vital to the praxis of hope.
