Always Give In

Glenn was caught in the middle of a raging storm, but it wasn't just any storm. It was personal -- one that almost caused him to take his own life. He didn't know how, as a Christian, he even allowed suicide to become a viable option. However, he was slowly succumbing to the clouds of depression surrounding the cares of his life: his wife, of 20 years, left him for another man; his best friend defrauded him; and his teenage daughter is pregnant by someone she refuses to name.
When the storms of life rage about us, we are tempted to question our faith, and, perhaps, even the existence of God. We may wonder why God seems distant, uncaring and unmoved. Yet, we fail to realize that when we see nothing but darkness, God sees nothing but light. When we see nothing but clouds, He sees nothing but a clear blue sky. When we see only turbulence at every turn, He sees His Son, the Peacemaker, standing ready to bring us peace.
The cares of this world can weigh us down, but thank God our solution is not to give in to them. Our solution is to always give in to the One who overcame them.
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." (John 16:33 NIV)
