Layer upon layer
Sin cocoons me
I hide beneath lies
Lies I tell
Lies I believe
Deep down a spark
Of life is birthed within
The blood of Christ
Accepted
Misunderstood
With ardent desire I stumble
Trying to follow my Lord
Encumbered by the grave clothes
That still disguise this new creation
Challenged, confronted
Accused and condemned
Reluctantly I exchange my
Comfortable sinful ways
For His
Moment by moment I listen
Trying to hear
Longing to obey
Failing
Falling into Him
Desperate
I face my wretchedness
I am stripped
And clothed in His righteousness
Wholly accepted
Cleansed
