All the while in sorrow and pain
That long armed claw reachng out to steal
What is rightfully mine
Only by the word of my Father and His son that I am
joint heir
And have only a work, and a journey, and a destiny here
To bring me back to them who sent me here
I lay down my weapons and take up His
My standard proclaiming "Jesus'
Exchanging faith for hopelessness
Certainty of Salvation for wandering
Breast plate of sin for righteousness that is only His
And speak in boldness with a sword of the Word to the
demons in the darkness
Placing the gospel of Peace on my feet
Those shoes leadimg me to the cry of the spirit
that reaches Heaven through darkness,
Soaring into the plain light of the throne, and Heard
So that the shout of victory descends in increasing
crescendo
Through the ranks of Angels assigned to fight my
cause
In the fierce battle field
Where the enemy tries to take me with force.
And then just as the fire of the war rages, and
the battle field seems so full of scars
It is left with only the wandering, ministering angels
Who bind up wounds in His blessed name
The demons fleeing to some other cause, not daring
to return
And I wonder
If I could see the battle in the Heavens raging
The fights that were fought and the battles won
Because here below I bowed the knee
And cried out in helplessness, God help me
Would I be encouraged for the future fights?
Would I understand more of Heavenly rights
Grow nearer to my destiny?
Hold the cross closer for future gain?
Live more for Him then than in Him now?
Would I who dimly in that mirror see
Love Him more?
Than now in adversity. and allow
Him to do more in the weeping times?
I do not know, but when in prayer
When my spirit seems to soar
I sometimes understand where the angels are
And how many more there are in each fight than me
The mirror below is dim, but the one above is clear
And through that veil He is there waiting
With open arms to give me joy
And set me down to dance with angels
I think I finally understand
I am the general and He the King
If I obey His command
The battle rages only till it is won
In certain victory; it lies with me in Him
My response determines the length of the war
And the heat of the battle fire.
