The Right Key

by Chris Umeweni

"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven" (Matt. 16:18,19).

There are times when we have to approach our doors with bunch of keys that have all its keys looking similar. And if we are not used to the particular one that opens a particular door, we end up wasting a lot of time before it finally opens.

Jesus talking to Peter, assured him that he will be a pillar in the building of His Church; making him know that the Church will always come out victorious in every situation she comes across. Perhaps Peter might have wondered how this was going to be possible not until Jesus added, "I will give unto thee the keys of the Kingdom of heaven." What an authority! What an honor!! What a privilege!!!

Now notice Jesus didn't say 'key', He said 'keys'. This actually meant there is a particular key to unlock salvation; another for healing; another for prosperity, deliverance, Baptism of the Holy Spirit, etc.

Though Jesus has actually given you and I (His Church) the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven, we need to know the right key to use in all situations of life. That is why you don't preach the same message to different congregations; hence they won't be saved and blessed. You don't administer healing to Mr. B the same way you did to Mr. A.
We need to get the right key.

I spent minutes praying for a woman who have always had nightmares of death that have physically left her with a swollen tummy. I prayed and prayed yet it was as though I never prevailed. Soon, the Holy Spirit gave me the right key when He said, "Breathe on her". And immediately I did, she went down under the power of God and that gate of hell over her life was broken instantly.

Even Jesus during His earthly ministry never healed, delivered, same way. To one blind man He would say, 'See' and that would be all. To another He would make clay of His spittle, touch his eyes and make him wash, etc.

As Christians, we need to draw close to the Holy Spirit and have a deep communion with Him. He alone knows every key that matches a particular door in Heaven as to make it a reality on earth. It is little wonder when Peter used the right key after the coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost that 3,000 souls were saved.
He would have as well laid hands on the lame at the Beautiful gate and prayed for him to rise; but he just spoke the Word and lifted him up.

Brethren, the master plan of Jesus still remains that no gate of hell shall have prevalence over us His Church no matter the situation. I still hear Him say, "be of good cheer; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33b).

So true we have the name of Jesus as one of the greatest weapons given by God for a victorious life but it can only be more effective when we pay heed and are sensitive to the particular key the Holy Spirit is showing us to use.
