A Little Care

by Sarah Thomas
4/17/2010 / Health

All of us dream of being young and flawless as long as we live and we absolutely abhor the fact of getting wrinkled one fine morning. It is amazing that each of us have been wonderfully carved and designed in a fashion which has no complete resemblance to anybody else on the planet. We are made beautiful and we are entrusted to conserve this beauty. God wants us to be responsible for everything He has granted us. All children of God should know this fact. Ageing is a part of the human cycle - true! But isn't there a peculiar charisma about ageing gracefully and healthy?

A little daily care to our God-given physique would definitely bring about a great deal of difference in our appearance as well as enhance our vigor. In today's fast paced world do we really have the time for it all? We slog all our lives to make our self a fortune, but at the end of it, if you are not in the best of your health you will not be able to benefit from it. A healthy body gives you a healthy mind and it helps you fair better in all your endeavors.

Even the scientists of our times have employed several technologies to increase the life span. You would be surprised to know that our body even has a gene which when boosted can prolong the life time. This particular gene is named 'Klotho' after the Greek mythical goddess who spins the thread of life. Research showed that boosting this gene increased the life span for about 19 31 % in mice and also up to a certain extend in humans by slowing down the negative effects of cell death and stress and various other processes involved in premature ageing. But unfortunately, it has a lot of side effects that affect the other metabolic processes of the body and hence it has not been put into practice.

Artificially enhancing the body systems with technology may have its detrimental effects but there are plenty of other approaches towards keeping your body fit to a longer extend.

Here are some simple tips that will help you stay healthy and lively as long as you live:

 Get adequate uninterrupted sleep every day for 6 to 8 hours. It is during this time the nervous system heals and refuels the body. Research has proved that disturbance of the sleep compromises mood and performance.
 Drink 8 10 glasses of water every day. Water helps to flush out toxins from your body system and it also promotes the healing process.
 Include fresh vegetables like carrots and tomatoes in your diet and notice the glow on your skin. They contain a wide variety of vitamins like Vit A, Vit B1 and Vit B2.
 Papaya has several medicinal value. Adding it in your diet will do you good.
 Avoid oily and junk food. It only increases the cholesterol level and makes you obese. Here is an interesting fact you would like to know A king-sized Burger King meal, (Double Whopper with cheese, large fries and large drink) contains 1,800 calories. Burning these calories would take nearly 6 hours of cycling at 20 miles per hour!!
 Simple fitness exercises can help to have a fitter and better life. Walking is the simplest and the easiest form of cardiovascular exercise. Jogging, swimming and cycling are simple tasks that help you stay in shape.
 Make sure you inhale oxygen through your nose alone and not through your mouth. It prevents a lot of communicable diseases like common cold.
 Avoid being anxious of the future too much but live the present happily. Fear, anxiety and restlessness cause stress which makes you more susceptible to diseases.
 Laugh often. It keeps you healthy.
 Keep your thoughts and views positive. It helps you in having a peaceful mind. Perfection in life cannot be achieved in one step in a person's lifetime. Consider every failure as a stepping stone to success.

 Avoid unnecessary conflicts and disputes. Mind your own business. Let your motto in life be Live and let live!
 Meditate on the word of God daily. The bible says in" Ps 119: 9 how can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to your word."
Let the word of God be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path.

It is true we are protected under the cover of His wings always and we are safe when we dwell in Him. But this doesn't mean we take our health for granted and destroy it by our ignorance. We need to stay healthy and active if we have to be fruitful in all our endeavors.
Especially men of God should take special care of their health. The burden they carry for the lost should not take a toll on their health. I remember watching a video where the great man of God from India late Br. DGS Dinakaran specially advices Pr. Benny Hinn to take care of his health. Bro. Dinakaran ignored his health and prayed on his knees for millions day and night. He felt He could have done more if he had taken a little care of himself.

Let us not make mistakes that cannot be corrected and protect our bodies from anything harmful.

Enjoy every day to the fullest like tomorrow never exists. Stay happy and relish the beautiful life you're gifted with and be blessed!
