Mummy Do You Love Me?

As I walked down the stairs
Fast as my little feet could carry me
My mother was waiting impatiently
At the bottom of the stairs
I knew she was cross
So in my little voice
I asked mummy do you love me?

Mummy do you love me?
Even when I don't do things right
Will you always be by my side to make things right?
Mummy, my dear mummy, do you love me?

Hurry up! she said
Why does it take you so long to get out of bed?
How long must I stand at the bottom of these stairs
Waiting and waiting for a sleepy head?

In my hurry to climb onto the chair
My little elbow knocked my cereal bowl into the air.
Looking into Mummy's angry face, Mummy do you love me?

All day long, it seemed I was doing something wrong
But in my little heart, I wondered where I belong
When night time came, I carried all the blame
I had angered my mother even with the last game

As she finished reading to me and tucked me into bed
She said my precious little angel I really do love you
I closed my eyes as she said goodbye knowing Mummy did love me!
