The song artist Len Barry placed primary education and love on the same basis. We don't have to understand the mysteries of love to experience it. 1-2-3 or A-B-C, it's easy to fall in love. It becomes more of a challenge when we are given a choice.
Let's Make A Deal fans knew too well the dangers of making the wrong decision. The stage held three big curtains. 1-2-3. One concealed the grand prize. Another offered second best. The third resulted in rounds of laughter and humiliation.
King David angered God when he called for a census. The foolish idea to seek proof of his military might hindered a walk of faith. Judgment would come. A price must be paid. "Tell David that I will punish him in one of three ways. But he will have to choose which one it will be (1 Chronicles 21:10 CEV)." Gad shared the rest of the story.
#1 Three years of famine in the land
#2 Three months of defeat in military battles
#3 Three days of disease outbreak
David did not want to receive his punishment from a heartless enemy. He threw himself upon the altar of God's mercy. He knew a loving father disciplines a wayward son and he would willingly submit to His heavenly Father. Three days of disease took the lives of many and softened the heart of a King. David knew he alone should be held accountable. Mercy prevailed and sacrifices and offerings were given from a sorrowful heart.
