What is the love of God inside of us?
It is the worry we feel when we've done something wrong
The pain that we feel when we've strayed too long
The emptiness of knowing we've chosen the rocky trail


What is the love of God inside of us?
It is the voice inside of our soul that says
Give the beggar a coin to help answer his prayers
It's the tears we cry to see the pain a child feels
When Mama or Dad goes away


What is the love of God inside of us?
It is the joy we feel when a bird takes wing
a bruised knee heals
A soul that we know has been saved!

The happiness a small hand brings
when it holds on tight
an old hand brings
that wins the fight
of pain and loneliness and age


What is the love of God inside of us?
It is the sorrow that leaves like the winter snow
The assurance that blooms like a flower grows
The knowledge that someday Jesus will come again!
