Could this be Happening?

by Chris Umeweni
7/09/2010 / Miracles

I had just come back home from travel; a bit tired as a result of the days I spent in a personal set apart of seeking God's face in prayers and fasting. I really needed rest. But on entering our house, everyone looked worried and frightened. My mother, siblings and some family friends who came to spend the holiday were all in panic. You could tell that there was a thick cloud of fear all over in our house.

When I asked the matter, I was told some hoodlums were calling my mother on phone demanding that a very huge sum of money be brought to them at a said date lest they would kill her children; pouring out threats, if we dared involve the Police. They were so serious, as to give in details every movement made by my siblings, showing they monitored their movements.

When I heard this, a holy anger stirred up within me and the gift of faith came into operation. I turned and said to my mother and to the hearing of all present, "Fear not! They will come and beg you for mercy." This was actually a stupid and crazy thing to say at this point in time. If those present had not known me as God's Vessel, they would have thrown me into a room and had me locked up. Rather than suggest a way to bargain with those hoodlums or even a way we could run away from the country, I was talking gibberish.

You know my Jesus never worried about what circumstances of life said. When He heard that Jairus' daughter was dead, He knew all things were possible with God. That is why He was never moved by the people who laughed Him to scorn in Jairus' house. He only took men of faith Peter, James & John and went in to pray with the parents (Luke 8:40-56).

Again, I repeated the same words of faith. When I saw those present couldn't understand me, I took my mother to a separate room and strengthened her faith. There, she believed.

I immediately put a call through to my friend and asked him to join me in prayers. You know the Bible says if two shall agree on any matter they shall ask in Jesus' name, it shall be granted them. How good it is to have friends who are truly Christians. We prayed believing the Word of God that says the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

To cut the long story short, at midnight preceding the final day the hoodlums gave us to bring the money, the Holy Spirit imprinted Proverbs 21:1 on my spirit: "The King's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will." I immediately went into prayer saying: "Oh God, the heart of these hoodlums is in your hands. May your angels give them no rest tonight till they come and beg for mercy." It was indeed a fervent prayer.

Just very early in the morning of the said day, a call came through to my mother's phone and the caller (one of the hoodlums) with a sober and pitiful voice said, "Madam, please I have something to tell you. Give no one any money yet. I will come this morning but please do not arrest me as I will be telling you those who planned this mischief." My mother immediately agreed and encouraged him to come.

That alone was something to rejoice about but not fully yet because these hoodlums could be mischievous at times.

And at the said time, a hefty young man (who we later found out to be in his thirties) walked into our office and introduced himself. And just as we were reassuring him that there were no security agents around, he knelt down, pulled off his cap and broke into uncontrollable hot tears saying that he couldn't sleep at night.

"Could this be happening? Could this be true? Thank you Jesus!" these were quiet words coming out from the mouth of my sibling seated beside me as we watched God arrest this criminal Himself.

We interrogated him in several ways and he confessed everything about his gang and how they have once planned to come threaten us with robbery a certain time. He mentioned where his gang were; promising to reveal their hide out if we could only spare him.

Beloved, I don't know what you may be going through now that has made fear envelope you. God is able to bring you out from it. The Bible says the earth and its fullness belong to the Lord. It also says that all things lie naked before God. He is the all-powerful and all-knowing God.

And when I wanted to lead him to Jesus Christ, he opened up and also let me know he had been called by God since he was younger to serve him in a special way but greed led him into robbery.

With his help, others got arrested by security agents and were detained. The family members of those involved came to us and wept for mercy. After few days, they were finally released. Not only did the hoodlums cry and beg for mercy; their family members also did.

This event caused a revival amongst those who heard and many came to know Jesus and fear God.

God still wants men and women who would take Him foolishly at His Word no matter what situation they may find themselves; for my brethren, that is a key to unlocking Miracles.
