People are required to be at their place of employment for specific hours assigned by their boss. Banker's hours are envied by many forced to work the graveyard shift. Those with a big disadvantage work swing shift. Our inner clock runs smoothly when in a steady routine of working, eating and sleeping.
Working 9-5 is drudgery for the independent adventure seeker. If a person is unemployed, seeking full time hours to provide for their family, 9-5 is a dream come true. Our attitude shapes us to fit our occupation or we dread each coming day.
Job endured great suffering, yet voiced many complaints to his friends around him and God above. "Does not man have hard service on earth? Are not his days like those of a hired man? Like a slave longing for the evening shadows, or a hired man waiting eagerly for his wages, so I have been allotted months of futility, and nights of misery assigned to me (Job 7:1-3 NIV)."
Job saw only misery; we might share his negative outlook. Paul Harvey aired the popular feature, The rest of the story God blessed Job beyond his wildest dreams (Job 42:10-17). Keep the faith; the Lord will reveal the final chapter.
