BACKSLIDING

BACKSLIDING

There are some days when I'm feeling quite weak to pray to God or even read my bible.
Those depressing days, it seems that I can't seem to think properly anymore which is caused by my annoyance and stress with the things of this world.

I'm sure that everybody has some black and pink days. Yes, that is called leaving the life in the upside down world kind of ways.

Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

On the contrary, there are some days where I'm so in tune with God, it couldn't be better. I'm reading my bible effortlessly and I feel led to pray about specific issues.

As a matter of fact, I have read the bible once from cover to cover when I just gave my life to Christ but, a few years later, I have been struggling to read my bible daily due to the heavy storms in my life from marriage to raising kids, work and financial struggles.

The good news is with a lot of persistence and determination, I have managed to carry on reading the bible from the beginning again and I have carried on ever since until I reach the end of the bible again. As a result, I have been feeling so overwhelmed with the Old Testament stories.

God shows us in the Old Testament how He deals with Israel and their multitude of sins. He is always ready to forgive them again and again once He has finished punishing them for their many sins. Not forgetting that before punishing them, He has warned them many times through his prophets to turn away from their evil ways but Israel is just so stubborn that God sent them disasters in order to discipline them.

Ezekiel 20:8
But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

Moreover, the power of God is in full strength in the Old Testament, It shows God helping Israel to conquer their enemies and disciplining Israel by using other nations to take them into captivity to foreign lands due to their disobedience to the laws of God because of their practice of idolatry. The bible is so amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Lord also promises his beloved nation to bring them back to their native land if they repent and accept to worship God again.

Ezekiel 20:34
And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.
However, God is not a fool because he knows that we are only mere human beings, very weak in the flesh. That's why He promises Israel to send them his son Jesus Christ to redeem them once and for all from their multitude of sins by the sacrifice of his son on the cross.

Psalm 49:15
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
Then, God would send his Holy Spirit to teach Israel the truth which will set them free in order to be obedient to God and worship him only. God is a very jealous God, he hates competition.

Luke 4:18
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Joel 2:28
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Ephesians 2:2
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

To conclude, I would say that I can't seem to be able to stop myself from reading the bible or pray to God for a long time because God is using my thoughts and his word to remember me his everlasting presence and wonderful love.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee

God bless.
