The moments of exhilaration when reaching the top motivate mountain climbers. Excitement leads to serenity. The problems of civilization and life below seem miniscule in comparison to the vast expanse of mountain peaks and sky. Peace reigns in our mountaintop experiences. Is it possible to daily walk with peace in the valley?
I may wrongly believe that peace is the absence of conflict. Our valley journey involves days of dryness of drought, rushing waters of tears in storms, and tripping over jagged rocks in fragmented relationships. Yet, scriptures remind us that the Shepherd of our souls walks through the valley with us. (Psalm 23) He is peace.
"And let the peace of the Messiah, to which you were also called in one body, control your hearts. Be thankful (Colossians 3:15 HCS)." Take His hand; allow His peace to flow through the valley today.
