A Time to Change



Summer is winding to a close in the U.S., and autumn will soon arrive with all of its splendor and beauty.

Along with the changing of the seasons, people will also change.

Sitting at my kitchen table with the window partly ajar, I felt the cool breeze envelope my arm, a reminder of autumn's arrival. The trees are beginning to turn in color and the wind has taken on a different feel.

Watching my daughter play outside, laughing and carefree, as a child should, made me think of the goodness of God.

I found myself thinking, my, how she's grown in such a short time. Even though as parents we wish we were able to suspend time, life has a way of propelling us into the future, sooner then we'd like.

Boyfriends, Proms and Marriage, will be in her tomorrows. She will indeed partake in her share of change. "Mom, come push me on the swing," my daughter asked.

I opened the door to the outside and a gush of wind blew across my face.

"It sure is windy," Susan said.

"Yes, honey it is," I replied.

A time to change is not only seen here on earth, but in ourselves as well. Spouses want spouses to change. Children wish their siblings could change.

All of life is changing and hopefully for the good. However, not all has changed. The Bible says "For I am the Lord, I change not." Mal 3: 6

I find it ironic when people desire change on earth and yet fail to change themselves.

Everyone has a complaint about the condition our world is in: the collapsing economy, the war in Iraq etc

Who is right and wrong in the realm of politics, is widely discussed on the nightly news. Is it time for change? Yes, most definitely, but as time draws closer to the Lord's return, I'm afraid that will seem impossible.

People love the darkness more then the light.
Jesus warned us of this very fact. "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather then light, lest his deeds should be reproved" John 3: 19 & 20

God wants us as his children to imitate his Son. For by doing, we will draw those to the cross who seek his righteousness through us.

How can we be an example of His love if we fail to live a righteous life?

In the spiritual world, change will be apparent after Christ's return. Satan will be bound for a thousand years. The earth will be renewed and peace will prevail. It will be a glorious time for the church.

A time to change is not to be viewed as a negative experience. Some change is good, depending on what the outcome will be. A time to change is a time of renewal.
