OUR SALVATION IS BY FAITH

by Jeremiah opusunju
9/22/2010 / Christian Living

Speaking of our salvation (that of the believers in Christ), Paul said: "it is of faith, that it might be by grace" (Romans 4:16); so: "if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work" (Romans 11:6).

Since it is of grace, this is why God: "who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with ChristFor by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:4-9).

Every believer must know and accept the glorious truth that: it is by the blood of Christ that we were redeemed from the world (1 Peter 1:18-21), by his blood we secured our glorious inheritance in God (Ephesians 2:11-19; 1 John 1:7-2:2) and by the same blood we shall be redeemed out from the earth to be with God in heaven (Revelation 5:8-10); all these freely bestowed on us through faith in him (Romans 8:32).

This faith brings every believer into oneness with Christ: "For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren" (Hebrews 2:11); making us his branches (John 15:5) and holy temples (dwelling places) of God on earth (1 Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 2:21; 1 Peter 2:1-9; 1 John 4:15).

Despite whatever imperfection believers might be facing, for which Christ is not ashamed of, every believer has become one with him, making us: "holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling" (Hebrews 3:1); for: "if the root be holy, so are the branches" (Romans 11:16). Oneness with him makes each and every one of us holy unto God.

Being the elect of grace, we are holy and beloved of God (Ephesians 1:3-7; Colossians 3:12; 1 Peter 2:9-10); this imparted holiness which comes through faith in Christ Jesus, is the holiness required for our redemption (rapture) to be with God (Revelation 5:9). As the scriptures said: "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14).

One may ask, but a believer can be defiled? Yes God's temple (which we are), can be defiled (1 Corinthians 3:16-17) but not by the sins of the flesh which Christ atoned for us: "For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh" (Romans 8:3).

John confirmed the truth that there are, sins unto death and sins not unto death (1 John 5:16-17); these are the sins Paul classified as the filthiness of the flesh and spirit (2 Corinthians 7:1). Since Christ atoned for the filthiness of the flesh, a believer engaged in them cannot be defiled by them, they are sins not unto death (1 John 1:7-2:2).

As for spiritual sins (filthiness of the spirit), there is no atonement for these sins, which include the sin of: falling out of faith (Hebrews 10:26-39; 2 Peter 2:20-22), falling out of grace or being subject to the Law of Moses (Galatians 5:1-4; James 2:10-12) and living in bitterness of heart against a fellow believer (Hebrews 12:14-15; James 5:9-16). These are the sins unto death which defiles the temple of God.

Therefore the grace of God unto salvation will not fail to reach out to every believer (one living in faith) who has not been defiled by the Law of Moses or bitterness of heart.

Indeed we are: the redeemed of the Lord, the fruit of his redemption and those to be redeemed to be with God; by his blood. Therefore our salvation is a gift obtainable by faith (from start to finish), not of works least any should boast.

However, everyone to be redeemed by faith is also required to work out their salvation (manifest the love of Christ in them) with fear and trembling (Ephesians 2:10; Philippians 2:12); so that after we have been redeemed, we will also inherit crowns of glory in the kingdom of our Christ and God (1 Corinthians 3:12-15; Ephesians 5:1-8). This manifestation of the love of Christ, towards each other, is the work which our faith requires for its perfection unto eternal reward (John 13:34-35; James 2:14-22; 1 John 3:15-19; 4:16-21).

As we, through faith in the blood of Christ, go before the throne of grace with confidence and boldness (Hebrews 3:6; 4:16; 10:19), to obtain the manifestations of our inheritance in God, we must also remember that like his love, his judgments are absolute (in him there is no variableness or unrighteousness).

He is not a respecter of persons and will surely reward each of us according as our works demand from him (Romans 14:10-12; 2 Corinthians 5:10). This is why we must through fear and trembling present our bodies as living sacrifices unto him for a blissful and glorious eternity.

CALL TO SALVATION

One of the greatest agony that will confront people in hell and ultimately in the Lake of fire, is the realization as to how simple it was to have escaped these horrible places of torment (2 Corinthians 11:13; Luke 16:23; Revelation 20:10-15).

In this dispensation of grace, escaping from hell and the Lake of fire is as simple as: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God" (John 3:16-18).

Therefore: "if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:9-10).

Remember, the mark of any good business man is to insure his business against any foreseeable risk. Therefore, you must insure your life against the hundred percent risk of eternal condemnation.

This present heavens and earth were created to serve as a nursery for the grooming of wise angels and humans who will inhabit the new earth; while every unwise angel or human will inhabit the lake of fire (a horrible place of torment) with Satan in all eternity, not a single being will be forgotten in grave or in hell.

I believe that after reading this article, you will be one of the wise creations of God who will return in glory (Colossians 3:1-4) to inhabit the new earth with him.

Do you believe that Jesus is indeed the Son of God, who was delivered for your sins and raised for your justification; and because he lives, you too will live with him in all eternity?

If your answer is yes, then let me pray for you: 'Dear Holy Father, this beloved has believed the report you have given concerning your Son, Jesus Christ, having been infused with your divinity, I commit his spirit and his soul into your hands for safe keeping.

Knowing that what so ever is committed into your hands is safe; I therefore declare that this one will be with me in your kingdom, to behold the glory which you have bestowed on your Holy Son, Jesus Christ and shall return with him to reign on earth; this I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Do not forget to join a good assembly of believers, boldly and consistently confess who you are in Christ, as well as continually share the love of God in Christ Jesus (which is in you), to all and sundry. Remain blessed till we see in the day of the redemption of the body of Christ.
