What Is Truth?
John 17:17
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Gods word is truth

What is the relationship of truth to God?

Romans 1:25
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen
.

Romans 15:8
Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:

The Truth is of God.

What Does It Mean To Say "The Truth Of God"?

John 8:40
But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham

John 8:26
I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.

Hearing God is hearing truth.

Is There Another Word That Expresses Hearing the Truth of God?

Colossians 1:6
Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

Grace: Gods grace is experienced in hearing His truth.

What is the relationship of truth to Jesus?

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus is the personification and the embodiment of truth.

John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Jesus is full of truth.

John 1:17
For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

The truth came by Jesus.

What is the relationship of truth to the Holy Spirit?

John 14:17
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

John 15:26
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

The Holy Spirit is equated with truth.

John 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall

he speak: and he will show you things to come.

The Holy Spirit guides us into all truth.

What is the relationship of truth to the Devil?

John 8:44
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is

no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

The Devil does not stand (or abide) in the truth, nor speak the truth, nor have the truth in him.

What is the relationship of truth to salvation?

Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that

Holy Spirit of promise,

The word of truth is known as the gospel of our salvation.

What is the relationship of truth to hope?

Colossians 1:5
For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

Hope is found in the truth of the gospel.

What is the relationship of truth to love?

2Thessalonians 2:10
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

The love of the truth plays the vital role in our salvation.

Knowledge, Love and Seeing the Truth

What is the relationship between " knowledge of the truth" and "love of the truth" in salvation?

1 Timothy 2:4
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

2Thessalonians 2:10
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

Receiving the "love of the truth" is receiving "the love" Jesus offers to all that will accept it. The expression of this love is seen through the act of dying for us in an extremely personal way by accepting a penalty He didn't deserve, but we did. The prerequisite in having deeper "knowledge of the truth" is found in the acceptance of the proposal of a relationship with Jesus, containing the gift of His love and His sacrifice expressed to us.

I have a desire to see the body of Christ edified. Within the broad spectrum of edification I feel there exists a great need and opportunity for spiritual education at foundational levels. Please contact me about speaking at your church. Dale Linton 410-378-5035 or [email protected]
