That's Life!

well lee always makes me search for the lyrics of what he sang. first, the boxer. latest, this one - that's life. he slurs or what, that's why i didnt understand at first n so i need to google for the lyrics, cos of course u cant like what u dont understand, right? unless u r shallow to be just content with the beat, rhythm and never understand what the song means.


what about now for frank sinatra's "that's life".

first, that's life, so all we could say is - that's life haha

seems to me these words are overused by those who cant think of words to say in times of failure, downfall, weakness or anything negative.

maybe a way to console oneself to move on and get on with this life.


there were several times i thought of these words.

when i tried my best n still see one liner test pack - that's life

when i heard cutting remarks, ridicule or some insensitive, senseless words - that's life

when u tried to be good and people around or circumstances wont let u - that's life

when one day u r all up n happy, and the next day quite the opposite of it - that's life

when i did my best, but i guess my best wasnt good enough - that's james ingram's song

when sometimes u think, so this is it so - get used to it


but this is a negative way to look into what the song means

there are so many bright sides of this song though.


"Each time I find myself, flat on my face,

I pick myself up and get back in the race."

Yes, all the people around u can only do so much but at the end of it all, it's just u n only u should pick urself up to get back into the race. with so many advises, rebukes, encouragement fr all ur support groups it wouldnt mean a thing unless u help urself to stand up. what happens when the people u depended upon fall? so best not to rely on them. Pick urself up so u can stand still.

I tell ya, I can't deny it,

I thought of quitting baby,

But my heart just ain't gonna buy it."

Quitting, been there. well at least just thought of it. but i dont know, my heart aint just gonna buy it as what the song says. cos when the small voice whispers give up, my heart n soul just find their refuge in God and then i feel so at peace. so give up? aint gonna buy it!


so we might say that's life as a sigh

but what's great about "this life" is

there's always tomorrow to make things better.

to erase the past and makes things anew

to ask for forgiveness

to be a better person u've always wanted to be

to find strength to face the coming days


but of course, this life may still bring some few bumps and burns, falls and turns,

cos would u see how dirty u r and in need of God's salvation if u r blameless?

wud u feel the need of God if u are totally self-satisfied, content?

wud u be wise without going thru some mistakes and pains?

wud u know what's worth keeping and not when u had it all?

wud u know the joy w/o going thru some hardships?

wud u know someone's worth if they're not gone?


so this is life - so short compared to afterlife

so enjoy, cherish every moment of it

when the devil lets u see the dark sides of it

think of what i always thought of it - the end justifies the means!

God is good, He will turn all these into beautiful things if we just have the courage to trust and believe in Him. Praise His name and see it happen!!!
