by Dale Linton

Our Spirit; A Third Of Our Makeup

1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Spirit, Soul, Body

The Role of Our Spirit

Our spirit and our bodies have predetermined destinations when we leave this earth:

Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Our spirit is our life force and when it is gone we no longer hold residence on this earth.

Luke 8:53 ,54 ,55 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.

Our Spirit - The Gift of Life

The "Breath of Life"

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Soul & Spirit Are Extremely Close In Relationship

The Life In Gods Breath Forms Our Spirit
Breath From The Life of God Forms Our Soul

Connection Between Breath and Spirit

Job 27:3 All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;

Job 34:13,14,15 Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world? If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.

Job 33:4 The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

Isaiah 42:5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

Connection Between Spirit and Life

God Gives Life and Breath To All Humans. From Genesis 2:7 We Understand The "Breath of Life" Ushered Man Into Existence.

Acts 17:25 Neither is worshiped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

Why Might It Be That We Receive A Spirit When God Breathed The " Breath of Life"?

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Because God Is A Spirit And Life Is In Him, It Makes Sense We Would Receive These Attributes.

John 5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

God Is Self Generating And Human Beings Are Not. In Other Words, The Life In Us Is Given As A Gift.

I have a desire to see the body of Christ edified. Within the broad spectrum of edification I feel there exists a great need and opportunity for spiritual education at foundational levels. Please contact me about speaking at your church. Dale Linton 410-378-5035 or [email protected]
