5 W Questions For the Story of "Israel Asks for a King" from 1 Samuel 8
by Kathy Vincent
12/13/2010 / Education

Israel, Israel, Israel! Will they ever get it? Will they ever figure out that God wants to be their only King? That they can fully trust in Him for all their nation's needs? First Samuel 8 is indeed a sad commentary on the level of trust Israel places in God. If it's a king they want, it's a king they will get and will be sadder for it in the end. Here is a Bible story that your children must learn. Hopefully, it will inspire them to place God as the King of kings and Lord of lords in their own lives.

Here are eighteen 5 "W" questions who, what, when, where, why and how - with their answers for the story of "Israel Asks for a King" found in 1 Samuel 8:1-22. These questions can be used with both young children and elementary children. Just be ready to tweak them a little bit for the appropriate age. You can also read a verse first, and then ask the question or you can read the whole passage of Scripture and then ask the questions. Your younger children might enjoy having some kind of puppet ask the questions. Have fun!
