Flowers in Spring whisper
ancestral footprints
upon this sandy shore
as wayward souls
once entered into a new land,
this North America, my
inheritance.
From Yorkshire they came,
in ships of distant
passion, sails unfurled
adults eager
for land, children overcome
by ocean swells, and
thrusting from horizon's
shore, homes awaited
meandering souls, generations
now at rest beneath the red
of Nova Scotian soil.
